How to get a police certificate – South Sudan

You do not have to provide a police certificate from South Sudan unless we ask for one.

How to get a police certificate:

If you are a citizen of South Sudan:

If you live in South Sudan:

You should apply in person to the South Sudan National Police Service, Headquarters-Juba (see Special notes and considerations for complete address). You must bring:

  • Your original identity card and passport
  • Two passport size photographs
  • A letter of introduction explaining why the police certificate is being requested (i.e. for immigration purposes)
  • Must allow your fingerprints to be recorded on a prescribed form
  • Applicable fees

If you live outside of South Sudan:

You must go to your nearest South Sudan Embassy for a recommendation letter.  Embassies abroad do not issue Certificates of Good Conduct.

Special notes and considerations

Do I need to provide a police certificate for Express Entry?

You do not have to provide a police certificate from South Sudan unless we ask for one.

When you apply for permanent residence, you will be asked to upload a police certificate. To submit your online application, write or type "As per IRCC instructions, I do not need to submit a police certificate from South Sudan with my application at this time" on a blank piece of paper and upload it in the Police Certificate section.

If we ask for a police certificate later on, you can upload it at that time.

We will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications.
