How to get a Police Certificate

If you are a citizen of Romania:

If you live in Romania:

You should apply in person to the county police inspectorate in your county of birth or residence.

If you live in Bucharest, you should apply to the police precinct in your area of residence.

If you live outside of Romania:

You should submit an application at your nearest Romanian Embassy (see complete listing on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website) or apply through the Inspectoratul General al Politiei in Romania. You can appoint a representative through notarized power of attorney to apply on your behalf in Romania.

If you are not a citizen of Romania:

Special notes and considerations

Do I need to provide a police certificate for Express Entry?

Yes. If you are Invited to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence, you need to upload a police certificate in your Electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR). Please follow the instructions above to get your police certificate.

We will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications.
