How to Get a Police Certificate - Afghanistan

Do I need to provide a Police Certificate with my Application for Permanent Residence? Yes

How to get a Police Certificate:

If you are a citizen of Afghanistan:

If you live in Afghanistan:

You should apply at your nearest Police Office that falls under the Ministry of the Interior. There is no specific application form. You must write a letter to explain why you need a police certificate (i.e. for immigration purposes). The Police Office will send your request to the Ministry of the Interior, who will issue the Character Certificate.

If you live outside of Afghanistan:

You should apply at your nearest Afghan Embassy or Consulate. There is no specific application form. You must write a letter to explain why you need a police certificate (i.e. for immigration purposes). You will be issued a letter from the Afghan Embassy or Consulate, which should be submitted to the Canadian office processing your application.

Do I need to provide a police certificate for Express Entry?

Yes. If you are Invited to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence, you need to upload a police certificate in your Electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR). Please follow the instructions above to get your police certificate.

We will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications.
